Citizens Advice Bureau faces 5 closures in Glasgow

Citizens Advice Bureau – is my local CAB affected?

Citizens Advice Bureau within Glasgow City will be forced to close 5 offices if the City Council of Glasgow removes critical core service support from September 2020. The following Bureaus have all received notice that their funding will be cut, and as a result, they will be forced to close their doors and services.

  • Castlemilk,
  • Easterhouse,
  • Parkhead,
  • Bridgeton,
  • Glasgow Central
This will leave only three offices to serve the entire region of Glasgow. But with GCC’s own funding cut and caseloads already spiralling.
After the advent of the COVID19 pandemic, all Citizen’s Advice Bureaux in Glasgow are still struggling to cope with the demand as families face employment losses, sickness, and debt as result of the current ongoing crisis.
Citizens Advice Bureau

Citizens Advice Bureau importance.

Some can turn to CAB or law centre to report one-off job problems or one-off benefits. While others depend on them for their everyday lives. Most CAB’s also offers home visits for residents in Glasgow who have difficulty accessing office-based services. The bureau is able to provide an interpretation service and advice in a number of languages. People have the option to drop in for advice. Each office has different drop-in days and times. Search your local branch online for more information. These cuts will see the east end of Glasgow without any CAB offices.
